Skyanalogs Diamond Cantilever

Skyanalog stands out in the analog manufacturing space through our commitment to in-house production. 99% of our components are carefully manufactured on our high-precision CNC stations, which is labor intensive but important for our sustainable development and efficient testing procedures.

We are excited to introduce our latest innovation: Skyanalog’s Diamond Cantilever, exclusively designed and manufactured by Skyanalog in China.

The Pure Diamond Pickup System, improved by Yan:

Our diamond cantilever represents a breakthrough in the adventure of material development. The integration of the Yan suspension system with the diamond pickup sets new standards in sound reproduction:

1. The synergy between the diamond stylus and the diamond cantilever achieves unprecedented rigidity, virtually eliminating signal loss between the grooves and the cartridge. However, the use of the same material for the cantilever and the cartridge makes the system susceptible to resonance. This required the redesign of a new suspension system to effectively control and mitigate potential unwanted resonances.

2. The lower density of diamond results in a lighter cantilever. This requires improved absorption of extraneous vibrations and a balanced dynamic suspension to ensure accurate signal reproduction without requiring higher tracking force.

3. The unique physical properties of diamond therefore require a tailor-made suspension concept. Yan ensures efficient vibration transmission without the risk of over-springing.

PS: The new Yan suspension system will be used in all product lines from 2024.

New Suspension System “Yan”

Philosophy of construction: The essence of MC pickups is the damping system, which is essentially determined by the interaction between the spring (piano wire) and the rubber ring. In addition, the art of suspension essentially consists in matching all the components so that they work harmoniously. Consequently, all models in our new product line are carefully adjusted at the factory to a specification that guarantees balanced music reproduction and is consistent with our commitment to lifelike reproduction.

The new suspension system, Yan, was developed with the following objectives:

1. Minimizing information loss and distortions:

By refining the spring and suspension materials, Yan aims to preserve the pickup’s interactive audio signal and reduce audible distortion that can detract from the listening experience.

2. Exceptional dynamic range and lifelike sound:

The system is designed for a wide frequency and dynamic range, ensuring that the sound stage remains spacious and as close as a live performance.

3. Improved transient response and clarity:

The optimized suspension mechanism enables an agile response to transient signals while ensuring clearer and more defined reproduction.

4. Analytical yet warm acoustics:

Yan focuses on analytical precision while maintaining a warm sound profile that balances details.

Yan Features

1. Tailor-made spring material with optimized elasticity:

A carefully calibrated damper design contributes to more precise vibration control and ensures more accurate high frequency tracking, which is the bottleneck of conventional MC cartridges.

2. Innovative rubber compound for the suspension:

Our new rubber compound offers greater rigidity, which results in less loss of information during playback. This rigidity does not come at the expense of the frequency response, but is improved so that excellent tracking is achieved even with low tracking force. The improved material properties enable effective damping over a wide frequency band without generating unwanted resonances.
