The Eros-9 is the first model of the Eros series that has been developed since 2016. After 6 years of research and development, in 2022, the Eros loudspeaker series is expanded with versions of Eros 5 Monitor, Eros 5, Eros-7, Eros-9 ULTRA, Eros 12, Eros 15X with superiority of sound. Each model in the Eros family has a distinct sonic personality, but shares the same characteristic of superb sonic dynamics. So the sound is always natural, correct and the sound stage is as wide and airy as listening to music in the theater.

Going back in time, the Eros-9 (Mark 1 version, also named Standard version) was first launched in 2016 with a 15-inch mid-bass driver combined with a 1-inch titanium horn tweeter in a very compact cabinet compared to the other loudspeakers used 15-inch woofer on the market. The Eros-9 MK1 gives the rich and warm sound of the 15-inch mid-bass driver and the detail of the 1-inch horn tweeter. This model has brought a huge surprise to the Audiophile community in Vietnam. This is also the speaker model that paved the way for ThivanLabs’ loudspeaker products to conquer the music lovers and audiophiles in Germany and Europe.

In 2018, marking the 10th anniversary of the brand, the Eros-9 Anniversary version was launched with adjustment to upgrade the internal structure of the enclosure, then the weight of Eros 9 MK I from 36 kg increased to 45 kg for Eros-9 Anniversary. The transfer of 2 vents from the back on Eros-9 MK I to the bottom surface into 1 large hole on Eros-9 Anniversary is also a great improvement to make the bass deeper, soft and subtle. In addition, it is easy and flexible to set up the loudspeaker position in the room. These improvements truly brought success to the Eros-9 Anniversary in Germany in 2019 and to date. Also, Eros-9 Anniversary was honored to be one of top 10 best products of 2019 in Germany, granted by German LP audio magazine. Then Eros-9 Anniversary was honored to be on the cover of Stereo magazine in Germany and was evaluated extremely well by many other prestigious audio magazines in Germany such as Stereo, Fidelity.

With the goal and effort to develop better products, in the two years 2020-2021, ThivanLabs’ R&D team has continued to research and promote the strengths of the Eros-9 speaker model to further develop other models of the Eros series. The Eros-9 Anniversary was improved and upgraded the sound quality to a new level. Its sound is very balanced, detailed, sophisticated and outstanding dynamic to become a new version – EROS-9 ULTRA.

In the process of testing and developing models of the Eros series with various methods such as technical measurement in the lab, real testing in different forms of demonstration and setup, from home music listening to music performance at the concerts from small to large scale, etc. Through the process of testing, there have been many technological optimizations and innovations that have been applied to the sound reproduction to reach a new level of high fidelity and dynamic. Accordingly, the Eros-9 Ultra has also been changed in technical solutions, refined in structure and crossover to meet the new sound standards that we define for the EROS. In addition to the characteristics of very high dynamics, versatility, multiuse of the product, the latest large loudspeaker models in the Eros line including the Eros-9 Ultra, Eros 12, and Eros15X all have strengths in wide dynamic range and very accurate sound reproduction. The sound thus rises to a new level of musical expression and emotionally conveys music to the listener.

On the outside, the EROS-9 ULTRA doesn’t seem to have changed much, but inside is a big change in engineering thinking. Accordingly, the crossover is optimally adjusted to create a harmonious combination between mid-bass 15-inch and 1-inch tweeter drivers for incredibly smooth and captivating midrange. Listeners will be immersed in music naturally and voluntarily with the sound performed by the Eros-9 Ultra.

EROS-9 ULTRA is truly developed to be more mature than the previous version in music emotion reproduction and naturally transferring this emotion to the listener. The listener will truly forget everything around and only focus on music.

What is the strength of a large Bass speaker?

Large Bass speaker and large cabinet volume are some of the strengths of the Eros speaker line. The large Bass speaker offers the advantage of a deeper bass range thanks to the extended low frequencies. Accordingly, due to the large diaphragm area, the sound pressure is evenly divided over the entire diaphragm surface, so the sound will be warm, thick and full. Many high-end speakers today use the Bass Reflex design, and this is also the design used for the models in the Eros speaker line from the first Eros-9 version in 2016 with the goal of creating a mature sound which has a strong emotion and great quality.

With large bass speakers, it will better reproduce genres of music that use percussion instruments such as large drums, timpani or string bass sets such as contrabass, enhancing the bass range of acoustic instruments such as piano… The Eros-9 Ultra speaker with its built-in mid-range strength has been refined through many versions and the high range has been enhanced to achieve more sophistication in the latest Ultra version, helping to express the singer’s voice very emotionally in lyrical songs, the sound of instruments in quartets. Large 15-inch bass is an advantage that helps the Eros-9 Ultra as well as the large bass models of the Eros series to perform very well on drum instruments, trumpets, epic music, classical music performed by the large orchestra that is necessary to reproduce an open, full sound stage, not only very well showing the high and mid-range tones but also the bass is also performed to the fullest.

New engineering improvements of Eros-9 Ultra

– The crossover design was optimally improved to make a great harmonic intersection between the frequency ranges of tweeter and woofer, which achieved a very smooth and flat mid-frequency. Eros-9 Ultra is completely easy to be driven by both tube amps and semiconductor amps.

– The bass and mid-range have been the strength of previous Eros-9 versions. This continues to be the strength of the Eros-9 Ultra along with an outstanding improvement of the high frequency.

– A new speaker foot design has brought a very great firmness to the Eros-9 Ultra. This effective anti-vibrance makes the sound extremely clear and detailed.

We always intend for the high fidelity of the sound. The Eros-9 Ultra joined in many practical tests with amplifying the sound of classical concerts performed by a symphony orchestra in a very large auditorium as well as tested in the different size rooms with vocal and musical instruments to compare between the direct and reproduced sound. The Eros-9 Ultra tested its sound reproduction capacity with so many genres of music such as classical music performed by an orchestra, musical instrument and vocal music, and even digital music. In the tests in these realistic amplification environments, the Eros-9 Ultra has created an enormous wide, open and airy sound stage but with very clear images of the sound details. This loudspeaker and the system truly reproduced the sound as live as when it was performed.
