Who is Skyanalog?
An OEM manufacturer of MC cartridges

First manufacturer of MC cartridges in China
Skyanalog was launched outside of China in 2019, but is already 25 years old. For a long time, we were an OEM manufacturer for many well-known brands and worked behind the scenes.

Strict quality control
During every repair, Skyanalog’s highly trained technicians thoroughly examine the defect. Both subjective and objective tests guarantee a 1-year warranty.

Active innovator in the analog audio industry
Unlike many others, Skyanalog focuses on research and development and invests heavily in product development. They have three production sites with almost 2000 m² of floor space and six of their own CNC machines.
Awarded for sound
Skyanalog’s work has received awards worldwide, although many of them don’t bear our name. Nevertheless, our work has been recognized for its excellent value for money.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a repair/reconstruction process take?
Our typical processing time is 7 days after receiving your system. A microscopic assessment and detailed recommendations will be provided within 2 days. The total turnaround time depends on your region. For international shipments, the process typically takes about 4 weeks.
What kind of systems can we repair?
In 20 years of experience, we’ve seen 99% of existing systems. Even those that have been abused under the worst conditions, we have the capability to restore them. Due to certain limitations (some models date back to the 1960s and others are no longer available), and because we don’t have the original material specifications, we will do everything we can to at least provide the SAME MATERIAL (boron, ruby, sapphire, diamond, etc.). Of course, we would prefer to use modern specifications, and they will perform just as well as Skyanalog models.
What type of cantilevers and diamond do you have?
As an OEM MC cartridge manufacturer, we have an extensive list of original materials. We normally recommend using the original materials for repairs, but we are also happy to modify/update the specifications at the customer’s request.
What if the cantilever had broken off?
In this case, we need to remove all residue from inside the engine; this is an extremely precise process that requires the best techniques. However, we can definitely do it.
Is maintenance necessary?
Yes. Similar to cars, a phono cartridge should be serviced every 5 years. It really depends on its operating environment. Try to prevent dust and static electricity from affecting the cartridge.
Maintenance has immediate positive effects, especially for cartridges with a history of use. The work includes cleaning as much dust as possible, adjusting the cantilever and damper to correct VTA, azimuth, and other potential issues. This is an extremely meticulous process to prevent coil breakage while removing most of the dust that hinders the coil’s efficient movement.
What if I don’t want to have a repair done/only want an inspection?
Following our thorough microscopic inspection and our recommendations (including high-resolution images and feedback) of the defective system, if the customer decides not to repair it or even wants an inspection at all, our inspection fee is €50, excluding shipping and additional costs.
What are the payment terms?
Please discuss this with your local retailer. Most accept traditional payment methods.
Is there a guarantee for your service?
Naturally, we offer a 365-day warranty from the date you receive your repaired system from us. Please note that this warranty only covers performance losses or defects of the component being repaired and excludes damage caused by human error or misuse. Each system is documented before shipping, so records are available for your reference.
What happens if my pickup is damaged after shipping?
In our experience, cartridges are more likely to be damaged during shipping than during the repair itself. Please ensure the package is well-packed and insured. While we have extensive experience working with cartridges, minor errors are sometimes unavoidable. If the performance of certain components is affected and this is our fault, we will repair them free of charge.
Who pays the shipping costs?
The customer pays the shipping costs to the dealer; the shipping costs associated with the repair are covered by the repair price.
The re-tipping service is performed by Skyanalog founder Jack Leung. This process is extremely difficult, as it requires the precise removal of residue from the cantilever. Jack himself developed a precise, custom-made tool for this purpose. With his skillful techniques, he is one of the few who can perform this state-of-the-art re-tipping.
01.
Complete preservation of the original cantilever
The original, factory-made cantilever of your beloved system will be fully preserved. We will use a brand-new diamond tip to extend the system’s lifespan.
02.
NO DISASSEMBLY of your beloved system
Jack’s custom-made tool removes the adhesive residue and diamond pen remnants. We don’t disassemble your beloved system!
03.
Factory-set suspension settings are retained.
The original factory-calibrated unit (compliance, SRA, alignment) is retained.
04 .
Precise removal of residues
This tool has been kept secret for over 20 years. Jack Leung is the only specialist skilled enough to precisely remove all residue.
05.
Operated by founder Jack Leung
Skyanalog’s founder, Jack Leung, dedicated over 30 years to the audio industry. He was the first MC cartridge manufacturer in China.
06.
Skyanalog Original BLACK Adhesive
The Skyanalog Original BLACK adhesive was developed by Jack Leung with a decade of research in materials science. It is by far one of the most reliable solutions for diamond pin fixings.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE RIGHT
Remove all residues to ensure a flat mounting surface for the diamond.
Re-tipping examples

The diamond came loose again, quite quickly…
Benz Micro Wood SL
This Wood SL was meticulously maintained by its owner. The diamond plate was recently reinstalled by another service provider. Furthermore, an incorrect anti-skating setting caused the cantilever to drift slightly to the right…
Jack removed all traces of white adhesive using the special tool. The new Micro-Ridge diamond was then firmly attached using the required minimum amount of genuine Skyanalog Black adhesive.
* Please note that excessive adhesives can lead to increased moving mass, which can significantly affect the sound.
Diamond Worn
Benz Micro Ruby Z
The Ruby Z was originally fitted with a micro-ridge diamond, which was supposed to last for more than 2000 hours. Now the diamond is completely worn down, but there are still no other signs of damage or misuse. Excellent!
A Micro Ridge diamond speaker with the same specifications was requested by the customer. After Jack installed the magnificent Micro Ridge diamond speaker, the warmth and sound of the Ruby Z speaker immediately returned.

NEEDLE Re-Tip
Should we adhere to the original specifications as closely as possible, or would you prefer to switch to a higher-quality diamond?

Cantilever Aborted
Ortofon Quintet Black
This Ortofon Quintet Black was used in an excellent environment. However, the owner’s housekeeper broke off the cantilever (and consequently the diamond stylus) while cleaning his listening room.
Jack removed the remaining cantilever from the aluminum tube using a special blade and installed the Skyanalog sapphire cantilever with an elliptical pin. Naturally, he used the exact amount of original Skyanalog BLACK adhesive.
The diamond cantilever is missing
Ortofon MC Diamond
The precious DIAMOND cantilever has gone missing. The reason is unknown… but we can see that the suspension is undamaged. Jack used the Skyanalog DIAMOND cantilever and a 3/80µm Micro-Ridge diamond on it. The restoration process went smoothly, and the subjective test afterward was very good. The diamond cantilever truly brings the magic to music!

Boron cantilever aborted
Van Den Hul Purple
The original boron cantilever fell heavily onto the turntable… The rest went sideways and was missing… In this case, the correct way is to remove all the residue, rather than “fitting a bigger tube” like most others do. Since the original aluminum tube was retained, meaning the damper and suspension are still as they came from the factory… A brand new boron cantilever is fitted, not to mention the beautifully installed Micro-Ridge diamond stylus.
Our experienced technicians produce all coils for Skyanalog and many other well-known brands. The density between the wires has a significant impact on the distributed capacitance, which in turn affects the phase response of the restored system.
01.
More than 20 years of experience
Skyanalog has been manufacturing MC cartridges since 2007. In fact, Jack Leung was the first MC cartridge manufacturer in China, and his research and dedication date back to the late 1990s.
02.
3-year warranty
The coil is the engine of every MC cartridge. The reason Skyanalog stands out in the analog audio industry is their meticulous attention to detail in every coil they produce. Therefore, offering a long-term 3-year warranty is not only a responsibility but also a pleasure.
03.
Exclusively cleaned wires
Over the past 20 years, Skyanalog has built a very good relationship with its suppliers. This means that Skyanalog has access to all kinds of exclusive materials, including all specifications of the highest quality purified wires, produced exclusively for Skyanalog.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE RIGHT
The unwinding process must be meticulous. This is the basis for a compact coil.
TO SHOW THE MAGIC PROCESS
Examples

“Clinking sounds”
Clearaudio talisman
The coil was burned out… and there were these ‘clanging clang’ sounds in the high frequencies, which are not desired.
The talisman uses a series of concentric coils and, with its well-aligned magnets, offers superior phase response. The trade-off, however, is that the coils are at the top end of the manufacturing process. After lengthy discussions with the customer, he agreed to use 6N OCC wire instead of gold, with the aim of improving the rising high-frequency response. The results were positive.
One channel is not working
Linn Ecstasics
One channel is not working; the coil was rebuilt with 6N OCC wire.
Due to the protection of our customer’s privacy, we cannot provide any further information about this beautiful Linn system.
